Atletico Madrid have reportedly registered an interest in signing Chelsea striker Timo Werner who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the near future.
The German forward had arrived at Chelsea to much fanfare last summer in a big-money move from RB Leipzig but the player’s debut campaign turned out to be a flop one in front of the goal.
Since then Thomas Tuchel, the Chelsea manager who tasted Champions League success in his early months at the club, has brought in Romelu Lukaku from Serie A champions Inter Milan ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season to bolster Chelsea’s forward lineup.
Werner’s berth on the teamsheet has come under great threat following Lukaku’s return to the Bridge and subsequent good form and reports Transfer Market Web ( via The Goal) suggest that Atletico Madrid are hoping to lure the ex-Leipzig man to La Liga football.
A move away from the Chelsea camp for Werner could be on the cards for the next summer window and Atletico have thrown their hat in the ring for the player’s signature, joining Bundesliga duo Bayern Munich and Dortmund in the process.
