AS Roma are reportedly looking to sign Chelsea’s central defender Trevoh Chalobah in the January window in a loan transfer after failing to land him in the summer.
Chalobah was heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window with Chelsea bringing in two new centre-backs in the form of Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana to freshen their backline.
With Chalobah falling down the pecking order, there had been rumours of the young defender being close to heading out the exit door but then-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel managed to convince the player to stay put for the new season.
According to a report from the Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, it is claimed that Chelsea could deem the first-team outcast Chalobah, who has appeared in only one match this campaign, surplus to requirements when the January window opens.
Roma were not able to sign a a centre back in the summer and they are tipped to revive their interest in moving in for the 23-year-old Chalobah in a loan deal with Chelsea unwilling to agree to a permanent departure.
