Arsenal have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Chelsea forward Kai Havertz this summer with the North London giants considering launching an offer for the Germany international.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move elsewhere in the summer transfer window now underway with Real Madrid having previously tipped as the club keeping close tabs on the striker.
According to a report from The Athletic, it is claimed that Chelsea will be making a decision on Havertz’s future soon with the player’s current deal set to run out in the next two years which could open the door for his exit should a big money bid arrive.
Chelsea’s incoming head coach Mauricio Pochettino could be the answer to the problems faced by Havertz last season – a disappointing campaign from the highly rated German – but Arsenal are believed to be keen on landing his signature.
Mikel Arteta’s side, after their Premier League title heartbreak, are out to bolster their front line options and a player of Havertz’s ability is expected to have piqued their interest with the Gunners stepping up their pursuit of the former Bayer Leverkusen man.
