Antonio Rudiger excited about reuniting with his former teammate Kia Havertz

Former Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger expressed his excitement about potentially reuniting with his German teammate Kai Havertz at Real Madrid.

However, it appears that the move to Madrid is unlikely as the club is unwilling to meet Havertz’s asking price.

Chelsea is prepared to sell the 23-year-old forward if a suitable offer is presented, and the attacker himself is open to a transfer.

This aligns with his struggles during the season, particularly while playing as a striker, where he scored only seven goals in 35 Premier League matches.

Antonio Rudiger, who enjoyed a positive stint at Chelsea, made a move to a Spanish club on a free transfer this season. While speaking to Spanish outlet Diario AS, the center-back expressed his happiness about reuniting with his former teammate Havertz.

“I would be happy to play with Havertz again at club level. Unfortunately, I cannot say much about it because, on the subject of transfers, my word is secondary. It’s the club’s decision.”

Rudiger’s departure on a free transfer last summer was disappointing considering his contributions to Chelsea, including winning the UEFA Champions League.

The article highlights the importance of not allowing a similar situation with Havertz and ensuring that the talented player is not allowed to leave the club for free in the future.

Despite possessing impressive qualities, Kai Havertz has experienced only moderate success during his three-year tenure at Chelsea.

There is hope that under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino in the upcoming season, Havertz can rediscover his form. It is crucial to identify his best position and ensure he feels comfortable playing there.

It is evident that he is not suited to the role of a traditional number nine, thus necessitating the acquisition of a world-class striker for that position.

Havertz has shown potential in playing just behind the striker, a role in which he excelled during his time at Bayer Leverkusen.
