Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta keen to add Chelsea midfielder, Jorginho to his side

Jorginho joined Chelsea when Maurizio Sarri, who was the Chelsea coach decided to bring him from Naples. Sarri worked with him in the Napoli setup and highly talked about the midfielder.

But after joining Stamford Bridge, his career in Chelsea has gone hot and cold as he was tipped to leave the club under several occasions but still managed to feature in many matches under Lampard.

Predictions were given by many people that the 28-year old midfielder will struggle for game time when Frank Lampard joined the club as a manager. But to the surprise of everyone, the Italy international still played 44 games in all competitions in the previous season.

An by far, he has featured in Chelsea’s both the games of this new season against Liverpool and Brighton, having scored one penalty and missed another penalty in the Liverpool match.

This explains Jorginho is still a part of Lampard’s plan this season although several new faces have joined recently.

But as per Goal reports, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta is keen to sign Jorginho before the end of the transfer window season i.e on 5th October.

Announcing the news, the Sky Sports host said: “Chelsea’s Jorginho is one of a number of midfielders that Arsenal are interested in. We didn’t see this one coming.”

This isn’t the first time Arteta has been interested in the Italian player. While being an assistant of Manchester City’s coach, Pep Guardiola, he tried to bring Jorginho to the Etihad Stadium from Napoli.

Jorginho almost made the move before he decided to change his mind and reunite with his former coach Maurizio Sarri. Arteta is keeping tabs on the Chelsea player and soon could propose an offer to Chelsea.
