Andreas Christensen pulled himself out of contention to feature in the FA Cup with the Chelsea defender’s move away from the Bridge imminent.
The Dane is set to sign for his longstanding suitors FC Barcelona on a Bosman transfer this coming summer despite Thomas Tuchel pushing for Christensen to renew terms in the English capital.
Christensen shocked the Blues fanbase by making himself unavailable to play in Saturday’s FA Cup final contest against Liverpool at Wembley despite not being injured, according to a report from The Daily Mail.
It is understood that the central defender had made it known to the Blues boss Tuchel that he did not want to be considered for the high-billed Wembley showdown because he was not ready to play.
Christensen’s last-minute absence is sure to have come as a major setback to the plans of Tuchel who had to ring in changes to his XI by issuing a recall for Trevoh Chalobah to start in the heart of the defence.
