Alvaro Morata Could Be Recalled If Atletico Madrid Don’t Pay £50 Million

According to the latest reports, Premier League outfit Chelsea will recall Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid if the Spanish side is unable to pay up his transfer fees of £50 million to sign him on a permanent deal.

The Blues are in a bit of a pickle at the moment as they will be hit with a transfer ban which will not allow them to sign players for two transfer windows which is equivalent to one whole year. Chelsea also lost their talisman Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and Maurizio Sarri also stepped down as head coach of the club a few weeks ago.

Alvaro Morata was the record signing for Chelsea when he arrived at Stamford Bridge 18 months ago but it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for the Spanish striker. Despite a decent start to his career at Chelsea, Morata had a torrid time adapting to the change in tactics under Sarri towards the end of his Chelsea stint which literally forced a move away from the English capital to join Atletico Madrid on a loan deal.

Morata joined Atletico Madrid earlier this year in January and hit the ground running at the Wanda Metropolitano scoring six goals in the second part of the campaign for Diego Simeone’s side. However, with his loan spell coming to an end at the Spanish capital the 25-year-old Morata has to return to Stamford Bridge even though he would like to remain in his native homeland.

In an interview earlier this month Morata opened up on his bad phase at Chelsea initially, ‘I had a very bad time in London. In the end, I was training alone, I talked to Sarri and he told me some things that I knew were not going to be as he had said.’ Chelsea is also close to confirming a deal for Frank Lampard as the new club manager and Atletico has to come up with transfer funds worth £50 million if they want to keep Morata at Madrid on a permanent basis.

Atletico has already purchased midfielder Marcos Llorente from Real Madrid and Rodri looks set to join Manchester City. But Simeone is considering a move for Morata to Madrid on a permanent deal if he fits in with his philosophy.
