AC Milan reach agreement with Chelsea to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea to secure the permanent signing of midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek during the summer transfer window.

Loftus-Cheek is among the players departing from Stamford Bridge, joining the notable exodus that includes N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Hakim Ziyech, and Edouard Mendy, who have already made moves to other clubs.

As the Blues continues its trend of selling players to generate funds after last season’s lavish spending, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is the latest player set to leave.

AC Milan are in the advanced stages of finalizing his transfer, as they aim to replace the departing Sandro Tonali.

According to Ben Jacobs, the deal is expected to be worth around €20 million, including add-ons, and the midfielder is likely to sign a four-year contract at San Siro.

It’s unfortunate to see a player who came through the club’s academy depart for another team, as the ideal scenario would have been for him to thrive in a Chelsea shirt.

Despite Loftus-Cheek’s undeniable talent, he has struggled to secure a consistent starting role at Stamford Bridge over the years.

This lack of permanency is disappointing considering he made his debut for the club a decade ago, and by now, he should have established himself as a regular starter.

Given this situation, the proposed deal appears to benefit all parties involved. Chelsea can recoup a transfer fee while allowing Loftus-Cheek to reignite his career in a different league.

Additionally, his familiarity with former Chelsea teammate Fikayo Tomori, who also plays for AC Milan, should help him adjust to his new surroundings.

For AC Milan, they would be acquiring a player with exceptional technical abilities who, given the right environment, could become a valuable asset for the club.

Loftus-Cheek can take inspiration from Tomori’s success in Milan, where he flourished after being underused at Chelsea.
