Chelsea’s veteran French forward Olivier Giroud is a key target for AC Milan this summer and the Italians are hopeful of landing his signature within this week.
Reports from an Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport claim that the 34-year-old Giroud could be on his way to Milan in the next few days following a breakthrough in negotiations between the two clubs.
The World Cup-winning striker had been linked with a move to Italy despite penning a new contract at Stamford Bridge which committed his Chelsea future by another summer as Thomas Tuchel remained on the lookout for a new forward in the transfer market.
Chelsea’s links with Borussia Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland are understood to be the reason behind Giroud calling it quits on west London with the Blues also expected to lose Tammy Abraham this summer as West Ham United remain on alert for the England international.
Aston Villa have seemingly pulled out of the race to sign the 23-year-old Abraham who has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea since Tuchel’s hiring and would like to seal a move elsewhere to gather regular minutes of football.
