Lampard believes Kai Havertz will thrive once he gets accustomed to the Premier League

Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard has insisted the fans to keep patience on the newcomer, Kai Havertz. He urged the Chelsea fans to not put pressure on the young winger Chelsea who arrived this summer from Germany.

The midfielder struggled to make an impact in Chelsea’s defeat to Liverpool on the Stamford Bridge yesterday and Lampard is of the opinion that Hvaertz still needs some time to adapt to the Premier League.

The German international’s move from the Bundesliga to the Premier League happened earlier this summer and made his debut against Brighton which Chelsea won 3-1. There Havertz played a deeper role in the midfield. But in the 2-0 defeat at home to Liverpool, Lampard deployed Kai as a false nine to give Timo Werner wide space to operate in the left.

Former Liverpool and England national team defender, Jamie Carragher talked about Lampard who will have to go through many positions to see which positions suits  Havertz the best in the Chelsea shirt.

But the Blues coach is confident about Havertz performing up to the expectations surrounding his arrival at Stamford Bridge. He believes that once the 21-year-old winger adjusts to the Premier League, he will thrive.

When asked, if it was always his plan to play Havertz as a false nine against Liverpool, Lampard said: “It was the plan regardless, Timo likes to play off the left side.”

“With Kai, it was a feeling that he can be central and give them a problem by coming slightly deeper sometimes.”

“When he started to get into the game you could feel that a little bit,” said the Blues coach.
