Chelsea had a wonderful start in their 2020/21 Premier League season with a 3-1 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Amex Stadium.
The three points were important for the Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard despite the team being nowhere near their 100% best. Individual efforts earned the Blues three points in the season opener match.
However, Chelsea gets a massive boost before today’s match against Liverpool as Croatian star, Mateo Kovacic returns. He received a red card in the FA Cup final and is now ready to feature against Liverpool. The midfielder won the most votes as Chelsea’s player of the year in the previous season.
Despite some key players being out, we do have a massive boost going into the Liverpool game – the return of our 19/20 POTS, Mateo Kovačić.
When on form he’s a game changer in our midfield. Excited to see him link up with the likes of Havertz, also.

Lampard often goes with a 4-3-3 in big matches like this and the return of Kovacic will mean Jorginho will be out of the starting XI. The Chelsea coach is trying to find a perfect combination after the arrival of several talented faces.
While this may take time, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has grown as a team considerably and has become the main title contenders.
This could mean Timo Werner playing in between Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic(if he starts) with Mason mount dropping deep.
Lampard missed the presence of Kovacic in the Brighton game. He is Lampard’s crucial player having an ability to penetrate through the midfield region with the ball sticking to his feet. This can possibly a threat to the Reds who too struggled to keep the lead against Leeds in their 4-3 win over the Premier League new-boys.
