Chelsea FC to intensify Kai Havertz transfer approach in coming days

Chelsea FC are raring to step up the pursuit of major transfer target Kai Havertz in the coming days. The German international is a long-term target for Blues coach Frank Lampard. However, Chelsea FC have been unable to finalize a transfer fee for the player with Bayer Leverkusen so far.

Lampard is keen on add Havertz to the growing number of new Chelsea FC singings over the past few months. The 21-year old Leverkusen starlet was expected to follow Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech in a move to Stamford Bridge, however, negotiations had hit a roadblock. La Liga giants Real Madrid too expressed their interest in signing the German international which caused confusion regarding Havertz’s next destination.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were also early suitors for the German’s signature. However, Leroy Sane has been signed by Bayern since then as an alternative to Havertz.

With the player’s Leverkusen contract expiring in 2022, the Bundesliga outfit would look to sell their star midfielder for a hefty fee this summer. Havertz will be an important player for his side in the upcoming DFB Pokal final being held on Saturday. The game will see Bayer Leverkusen go up against Bayern Munich and could be Havertz’s last outing in the Leverkusen shirt.

The German starlet has had 18 goal involvements for his team in the 2019-20 Bundesliga season. Although an attacking midfielder, Havertz is equally comfortable playing on either wing of the pitch. Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz has deployed Havertz as a center-forward on a few occasions this season.

Leverkusen values their German playmaker at £90m, a sum that has caused some worries over at the Chelsea FC management. However, Frank Lampard is still considering to table a bid for Havertz in the upcoming days. The Chelsea FC boss is adamant about signing on the 21-year old, according to reports. Lampard feels that the arrival of Havertz could greatly benefit the playing style of the Blues.

With reports that Ross Barkley is generating interest from West Ham United, Lampard could soon get more funds to finance Havertz’s transfer fee. Moreover, the departure of Barkley would open up another midfield spot in the Chelsea FC squad.
