With their attempts in signing Ben Chilwell proving to be futile, Chelsea FC have turned their eyes to Theo Hernandez. Ben Chilwell’s transfer has been relentlessly pursued by Blues manager Frank Lampard in recent weeks. However, Leicester City FC have stuck to their £85million valuation of Chilwell.
Hernandez, who plays for AC Milan, has excelled for the Italian side this season. The 22-year player has appeared in 25 matches for Milan in the current campaign. Moreover, the left-back has scored six times and assisted once in the AC Milan colours.
However, the Blues will face competition from Real Madrid in their attempt to sign Hernandez. The French left-back was earlier a player of Real Madrid before joining AC Milan. Zinedine Zidane is now focused on signing his former player, with Hernandez being considered the successor to Marcelo for the Los Blancos by the Real Madrid manager.
It is believed that AC Milan would accept a bid worth £45 million for Hernandez this summer. Such valuation of the left-back is certainly cheap when compared to the other alternatives.
There is doubt over Hernandez wanting to move to Chelsea FC if Real Madrid chooses to approach the player. The 22-year old defender would be more inclined to join his former side in such an event. Hernadez won the 2016-17 Champions League while being a Los Blancos player.
The Blues are eager on signing a new left-back ahead of the start of next season. Ben Chilwell, Alex Telles, and Nicolas Tagliafico are the names that have been linked so far with a move to Stamford Bridge. However, initial negotiations with the teams of these players have not materialized.
Chilwell still remains Lampard’s top-most priority in terms of signing a new left-back for his team. The English international has been wonderful for Leicester City FC this season. He scored a wonderful goal in the recent 1-1 draw between Leicester and Watford FC in the Premier League.
