Premier League sides declare interest in signing Chelsea FC’s Kurt Zouma

The Blues defender Kurt Zouma has become a target for both Tottenham Hotspurs and Everton FC in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The French international is reported to be sold by Chelsea FC in the summer, with the London based Premier League side insistent on raising more funds to finance their recent spending spree in the transfer market.

Tottenham Hotspurs manager Jose Mourinho, who had earlier managed Chelsea FC in two different stints, is known to be a huge admirer of Zouma and would be willing to pursue his signature if the Blues accept a reasonable offer for their player.

After signing for Chelsea FC in 2014, Zouma failed to make a foray into the first-team squad largely due to the presence of great centre-backs in the then Chelsea FC squad, namely John Terry, Gary Cahill, and David Luiz.

The French defender was sent out on a number of loan spells away from Stamford Bridge, with Zouma spending time at French side Saint-Etienne and afterwards English sides Stoke City and Everton FC. The player’s performances for Everton FC last season made the Blues consider the option of keeping hold of Zouma when he returned from his loan spell at Goodison Park.

Zouma has been a key player of the Blue squad during the current 2019-20 campaign. The 25-year old defender has made 33 appearances so far in the Chelsea FC shirt. The player has demonstrated an excellent tackling ability and has recorded an impressive pass completion rate of 87%.

However, before the Premier League was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, Zouma had lost his place in the Blues starting lineup to Antoine Rudiger, who has made a comeback after sitting on the sidelines for the entire season due to any injury.

With Blues manager Frank Lampard desperately chasing the transfer of Leicester City FC’s Ben Chilwell, it seems letting Zouma depart to generate some much-needed funds would be the best decision for Chelsea FC. Chilwell carries a hefty price-tag of £75 million and the Blues would need to offload some fringe players in order to raise that amount.
