According to the reports in Italy, Inter Milan has already agreed personal terms with Olivier Giroud, who is willing to leave Chelsea as a free agent. It is also rumored that another Serie A club, Lazio which is based in Rome are also in the race to sign the French striker.
Giroud, who turns 34 in September, has been an essential part of the Chelsea’s attacking squad and scored three goals in just 13 competitive games for the club this season.
Olivier Giroud scored total of 24 goals in 102 appearances with an important goal in the Europa League final last year against Arsenal which eventually led to a 4-1 victory, over a period of three years after he joined for the Blues from a North London football club and rivals, Arsenal in 2017 January transfer window for around £18 million.
The striker confessed recently that he had already been on the verge of a transfer to San Siro in January, but Chelsea refused to release him early due injury to Tammy Abraham and lack of alternative striker in his absence.
The Frenchmen had provided some stability and experience, especially after the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid last season, to the relatively inexperienced forward department of the Chelsea squad which boosts with young blood like Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Lazio also tried to approach the France international, while he was offered an extension at Stamford Bridge which had a blow to the Roman club.
However, Tuttosport claim that Giroud has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan and his mind is made up after the manager of Inter Milan, Antonio Conte reached out to him and his agent.
He’ll leave Chelsea as a free agent over the summer, signing a two-year contract with option for a third year in the deal with the Milanese club, Internazionale.
