Chelsea will step up their chase to sign new players in the coming summer transfer period, aimed at securing four players since Enzo Maresca became their new head coach.
Spanning his prime, this thirty-six-year-old Italian is in the process of signing a five-year contract with Chelsea after the club settled £10 million compensation deal with newly-elect Leicester.
Even though Maresca will not manage transfers directly, he will have a considerable say as he discusses the candidates with Chelsea and their management.
Chelsea’s strategy for the summer transfer window is expected to involve providing priority for a new goalkeeper, a center-back, a left back, and a striker. Among targets, Burnley’s goalkeeper James Trafford seems to be the most desired, while Chelsea is interested in signing Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham through a free transfer.
Indeed, Adarabioyo’s contract ends in the following month and various clubs are keen on his services particularly Newcastle and Manchester United. Chelsea has taken an interest in Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo who could be on the move this summer away from Camp Nou.
The need to acquire a centre-back has now emerged in the latest transfer window after it was confirmed that Thiago Silva will be joining his boyhood club Fluminense upon the expiration of his contract.

Also, the blues’ scouts have been tracking Feyenoord left-back Quilindschy Hartman on the possibility of making a transfer. However, Hartman has undergone knee surgery a few weeks ago and may not return to the pitch until early 2025, which makes his signing not urgent.
In the short-term for example, Chelsea will be keen in the market for a top striker while the manager continues to show interest in Victor Osimhen of Napoli. The Nigerian striker is potentially to leave Serie A this summer and get a bid from several of the Europe’s best teams.
Maresca’s tactical method will focus on the importance of full-backs in football tactics, and he will advise full-backs to move to the midfield area when the team is in the attacking formation.
Therefore, at the mid of this year, Chelsea has been seeking for a new left-back that will suit this formation. Moreover, Maresca wants his goalkeeper to act as a playmaker just like Ederson of Manchester City, which makes the signing of a new goalkeeper a necessity.
