According to The Athletic, Chelsea, and Monaco have reached an agreement for the transfer of French centre-back Axel Disasi this summer.
The deal will see Chelsea pay approximately €45 million for the French defender, and he is expected to sign an initial five-year contract with the option for an additional 12 months.
Despite interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Manchester United, Disasi is set to become Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, and Lesley Ugochukwu.
After Wesley Fofana suffered a long-term injury, leaving him unavailable for a significant part of the upcoming season, Chelsea have recognized the need to strengthen their defence.
They were linked with a move for former academy graduate Marc Guehi, but instead, they have chosen to sign Disasi.

Disasi will be the second player to make the move from Monaco to Chelsea in the current year, following Benoit Badiashile’s transfer in January.

In response to the French star’s departure, Monaco have already secured a replacement by reaching an agreement to sign Mohammed Salisu.
The impending arrival of the defender at Chelsea is likely to lead to the departure of Trevoh Chalobah, who has attracted interest from Inter Milan in Serie A.
Chalobah has been linked with a move away from his childhood club, and it seems that the 24-year-old is on the verge of leaving.
The Blues are not done with their transfer activities, as they are currently in negotiations with Brighton & Hove Albion for a potential deal involving Moises Caicedo.
Despite having four bids rejected for Caicedo, they remain keen on the Ecuadorian midfielder and also Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.
Additionally, Chelsea are looking to add a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga, and they are considering a swoop for Robert Sanchez.
