According to reports in Germany, Bayer Leverkusen’s breakout star Leon Bailey is finally sealing his dream to play for the Blues in January once the mid season transfer window opens.
Despite being linked with multiple clubs in the summer window prior to the new season, the Jamaican international decided to renew his service for the German club after having an excellent season with them since joining from Belgian giants Genk in 2017. The classy winger registered 12 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions last term with his trickery and stylish feet earning praise all over the world.
Operating from the left side of the pitch, Bailey has an excellent vision to pick out his teammates with noteworthy passes and he himself is the curator of scoring beautiful curlers that makes the day for the club’s fans.
Including Chelsea, Arsenal and even Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich took a keen interest on the youngster to sabotage their wish to get in a formidable player with energy and most importantly speed in the dealing period. The Bavarian made an initial bid of £53million in earlier June but their hope had then been shattered by the stubborn Bayer board, reluctant to any interests to keep hold of their agile superstar.
Arsenal were involved a series of high profile signings throughout the transfer window and is now involved in making the best out of their business in the post Wenger era. So as things stands, Leon’s preferred destination is turning out to be, undoubtedly, Stamford Bridge.
In fact, Bailey himself updated his future thoughts in an exclusive with Kicker magazine last month and as Fussball transfer reports Maurizio Sarri will be welcoming the prospect in his side soon.
“There’s concrete interest,” a confident Leon shared his views, “What I can say is that my full focus is on developing myself as a young player, and that’s what I’ll focus on. If a club wants me, my management and Bayer will take care of it.”
Certainly, Bailey would be a massive hit at Chelsea and though he will be battling for his place in the starting eleven against the likes of high esteem personnel like Pedro, Willian and Hazard, Sarri would be keen to use him at crucial moments to extract decisive results in hunt for restoring supremacy.
