The Blues are looking good after a boasting start to their campaign, scoring 6 goals in two games. But did they perform the way we expect them to? No they didn’t. They would have out scored the opponents but the goals were more of a result of errors forged by the defenders of the opposition. What the team lacks is a quality striker apart from the Belgian captain Eden Hazard. They do have Alvaro Morata, but is he dependable?
The stats seem to disagree. In his last 25 matches he has just converted 4 balls into the net. They do have Pedro, Willian and Giroud in their line-up but what they lack is a star like Harry Kane or Kun Aguero, who can give them 30 odd goals in the season. Chelsea seem to be over-reliant on the Belgian after failing to recruit someone who can give a tough fight to the Belgian for scoring most goals as a Chelsea player.
Bates – the chief football writer recently agreed that over – reliance on Hazard will be costly. “The one thing I would say is that Morata is no Diego Costa. Costa gave that Chelsea team so much, I know Morata scored yesterday and it was a good goal, but somewhere further down the line they are going to suffer in attack because they cannot rely on Hazard every time. He’s the brains, the catalyst and creative heartbeat for me and they are a completely different team when he comes on.”
