AC Milan director Maldini confirms Giroud on his way to the Rossoneri

Chelsea veteran Olivier Giroud’s move to AC Milan seems imminent with the latter’s technical director Paulo Maldini revealing that Giroud was on his way to the Italian city to complete the long-awaited transfer.

Giroud had been backed to call it quits at Stamford Bridge in this summer’s transfer window in spite of the World Cup-winning France international penning a one-year contract extension with Thomas Tuchel’s side.

With Tuchel set to dip into the transfer market to bring in a new striker, Giroud would have fallen further down the pecking order as first-team involvement coming his way became quite limited since Tuchel was hired to succeed Frank Lampard in the capacity of the Chelsea manager.

Reports from The Mirror quote Maldini saying that the 35-year-old Giroud should land in the city very soon to complete the proceedings of his move to the Serie A giants for a fee reported to be worth €2 million.

Maldini further voiced praise for AC Milan’s incoming player with Giroud’s reliability being lauded by the Italian football icon who now serves as the club’s technical director.

“Yes, [Giroud] should arrive tomorrow.”

”Olivier is a champion and a fresh winner of the Champions League.

“He is a very reliable player, what we were looking for since we need experienced players like him. We are the youngest team in Serie A.”
