Chelsea’s fullback, Baba Rahman has joined the Greek side, PAOK in a loan move which will see him playing there for the remainder of the season as per Chelsea’s Official Website.
The 26-year-old left-back is not a familiar name in the Chelsea team but has featured occasionally in the development squad of the Blues this season. He was struggling to find fitness after having recovered from an injury and now takes an exit from Stamford Bridge to gain first-team football and mature as a player. Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel who replaced Frank Lampard earlier this week has made sure that he has no plans for him in the club and this prompted him to take an exit.
In the summer of 2015, Chelsea signed Baba Rahman from Bundesliga side, Augsburg and featured in just 23 games in his first campaign for the Blues. He moved to Schalke in the next season to gain regular minutes as a loanee but unfortunately was caught out on the sidelines for a whole year with a major ligament tear in his knee while playing in the African Nations Cup.
He made his comeback to Schalke in January 2018 and featured in five games before a move again to the French club, Reims 12 months later. The Ghanaian defender again changed his club in 2019 to join La Liga side, Real Mallorca but didn’t prove his worth to gain minutes.
His current club, PAOK is currently sitting in the fourth position of the Greek Super League table and he hopes to produce a good performance for a better football career.
