Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham considers that the squad needs time to gel with the new summer signings. Tammy pointed out the fact that the congested fixture and no pre-season training has not only given them less time to work on the bonds but also affected on the pitch as well.
Tammy Abraham has been used less frequently compared to the number of times coach, Frank Lampard has used new summer signings, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. He has been not able to feature in both the last games and sat on the bench while watching his team lose 3-1 to Man City at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea collected just four points in their last six games and Tammy is well aware that the new signings must perform in order to avoid criticisms.
However, it is to be noted that the players have been playing 33 games in total in just 17 weeks both domestically and internationally- so the tenure to get adjusted to the new league is natural.
‘I dreamt about it as a little boy and I still feel like I’m dreaming today,’ he said as per the Official Chelsea website. ‘I’ve been at the club since the age of seven so you can imagine how much I’ve always wanted to make it to the top level. I still have to pinch myself now and then when I realise where I am today.
‘I think you need the experience of going out on loan as a young kid, playing men’s football at the top level. I was getting kicked and scratched in games and you have to learn that ugly side of football as well. It really prepared me to know what I had to come back and do.
‘I had to learn to use my body more because you don’t need it as much as a kid growing up. I learnt about being in the right positions, had to work on my finishing of course, and just try to understand my team-mates more. That’s the main thing I’ve learnt over the years,’ said he.
Tammy Abraham opened up on how he dreamt of playing at the top level for Chelsea since he joined the club at seven years of age. He went to several clubs as a loanee and that taught him the ugly side of the men’s football as well. Those prepared him and groomed him to play for the top-flight English football for Chelsea, he thinks.
