Frank Lampard’s Chelsea hasn’t tasted a defeat since the match against Liverpool in the Premier League where Sadio Mane’s brace helped the Reds to clinch a 2-0 victory.
However, the Blues actually lost against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup match in tie-breaker and since then they have not turned their head back. They went on to a winning spree and also keeping five clean sheets out of nine games in all competitions.
Lampard hasn’t forgotten the match and is seeking to take revenge. A victory against Tottenham will directly place Chelsea as the new League leaders as they are just two points short of Jose Mourinho’s team.
Mourinho has been keeping a permanent set of players for the League games which isn’t the case for the Blues. They have been shuffling all players and Giroud’s returning in form means they have yet another option in hand. He is in dilemma regarding whom to play against Tottenham between Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
Tammy has been in superb form and with Werner, he has excelled in all aspects. On the other hand, it was Giroud who saved the team by scoring a winner in the dying minutes of the game in a late cameo appearance.
“Whether to go with Tammy Abraham or Olivier Giroud. “I have a problem because I have Tammy who’s playing well and we know what he did last year and Oli always contributes in that way with that professionalism. After the restart he was incredibl,” said Lampard.
“I have two players in a similar position that are fighting for a place. That’s a good problem,” he added as per the Express reports.
Tammy Abraham has young blood running along with explosive power whereas Giroud is experienced in big matches like these. It will be interesting to see, which player Lampard opts to deploy in this high-voltage clash.
The game is expected to be open as both the teams has enough attacking talent who could fire on their own but experts believe that either of the team may opt not to take any risk and play conservative football.
