Chelsea reportedly talking over a new contract until 2023 with defender Kurt Zouma

Chelsea is likely to start talks with their French defender, Kurt Zouma for a new contract at Stamford Bridge. It seems certain that the deal will be secured although some rumours are up in the air.

The 26 years old defender has been starting regularly under Chelsea’s coach, Frank Lampard this campaign. He has been shaky in the initial fixtures of the Blues as he started as a centre-back pair with Tomori or Christensen. But since he has found his perfect partner in the new summer signing defender, Thiago Silva- he has hit the ground running with consistent impressive performances.

Zouma believes that the presence of the experienced and world-class veteran defender, Silva has helped him to raise his performance level for the Blues.

The French centre-back has also netted three goals in the Premier League this season and was the highest scorer for Chelsea until his teammate, Timo Werner surpassed him recently. This has made the Chelsea board to sign a new deal as per Fabrizio Romano reports. The Blues will begin their negotiations shortly with him as the coach is also satisfied with his performances.

Chelsea’s coach Lampard sees him as a ‘new leader’ in the backline for the future of the team and reportedly his new deal will run until 2023.
