Ziyech has given Chelsea an extra edge and a different threat upfront, says Lampard

Chelsea’s coach, Frank Lampard believes that his Moroccan playmaker, Hakim Ziyech has added a unique dimension to their upfront. The new summer signing attacker delivered an impressive performance yet again in the 4-1 Premier League victory against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Ziyech, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Ajax Amsterdam which saw a reported 40 million euros transfer deal proved to be a constant threat to the visitor’s defence as Chelsea clinched three points from their home win. ZIyech was named the Man of the Match as he completed two assists and helped the Blues to move to the third position in the Premier League table just behind Liverpool.

The 27 years old attacker has scored twice and completed three assists from seven matches that he played in all competitions, and the coach was very impressed by how quickly Ziyech has adapted to the new club.

“He’s a top-class player. He’s had a long time out since the Dutch league finished and then he had an injury, so to hit the ground running the way he has is a huge plus for us,” Lampard told as quoted by the Official Chelsea Website reports.

“He has given us an extra edge and a different threat. He has an ability to find the last pass or cross, make assists and break teams that have a low block down. He sees the pass and has no fear to try it.

“He exudes confidences in how much he wants to receive the ball and be the important player. He also has great work ethic so he is a complete player. He’s been a big plus and I expect there is a lot more to come from him.”

The former Ajax star was responsible for all the three goals of Chelsea as he made two assists and was involved in another goal at Stamford Bridge. He created six big chances against Sheffield United and showed how big of a player he is. He is the one with the most chances created by a player in the Premier League this campaign.

Chelsea’s three goals were scored by Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Timo Werner after they were trailing by a goal in just 10 minutes of the match.
