The defending champions Chelsea blew the chance to top the group as they were held to a 3-3 draw against Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg.

Chelsea were on the front foot from the get-go and drew first blood at the Gazprom Arena through Timo Werner who had Ross Barkley set him up for an easy opening goal.
