Italy international Wing-back Emerson Palmieri is ready for a return to Chelsea this summer following a season-long loan spell with Lyon.
Palmieri had made the move away from the English capital last year to join Ligue 1 giants Lyon in search of regular first-team action which had been hard come his way under Thomas Tuchel.
In the aftermath of his country’s 3-0 defeat to Argentina in Finalissima, the defender was quizzed upon his plans to revive what has been a faltering career at Stamford Bridge to which Emerson admitted he was looking forward to the move back to his parent club, as quoted by The Sun.
“‘For me personally it’s been a good season, I played a lot of games. Let’s see what happens in the future.
“I have a contract with Chelsea. I’ve played there for three years and won some things. If I need to go back there I’m happy.”
It remains to be seen whether the Chelsea boss Tuchel, who faces a complicated summer transfer window after the club’s takeover plans by the new owners, wants to retain Emerson heading into the new season come August.
The future of Marcos Alonso, Tuchel’s second choice option in the left wing-back role behind Ben Chilwell, has been the subject of much speculation of late with FC Barcelona eyeing up a move for the Spain international’s signature.
