Willian speaks out on roadblock in contract talks with Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC ace Willian has confirmed in a recent interview that he is indeed holding out for a three-year contract to be offered by the Blues. The Brazilian international has been at loggerheads with Chelsea FC recently over contractual negotiations. Willian’s current deal with the West London based outfit expires at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

The 31-year old winger is adamant on being offered a three-year contract extension by the Chelsea FC management. However, the Blues are only willing to offer Willian at most a two-year contract to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

The player stated that his previous discussions with the Blues’ management had failed over the club’s failure to offer him a new deal running three years. Moreover, Willian added that if given a three-year contract by Chelsea FC, he would sign the deal in no time.

The Brazilian winger has been in scintillating form for the Blues since Project Restart. In eight games, Willian has recorded incredible stats of four goals and three assists to his name. Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has heaped praise on the player’s contribution towards the club’s aim of achieving a top-four finish in the Premier League standings.

It is believed that the Blues’ one-year-only over-30 policy has been the cause of conflict regarding Willian’s contractual negotiations. Lampard is eager on adding young talents to the Chelsea FC squad, as witnessed by the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

If Willian is unable to agree upon new terms with the Blues, many clubs will attempt to sign him. According to rumours, Tottenham Hotspurs are being considered the favourites to sign the 31-year old attacker this summer. The presence of ex-Chelsea FC boss Jose Mourinho at Spurs makes it tempting for Willian to sign for them.

Besides Tottenham Hotspurs, Arsenal and FC Barcelona are also reportedly interested in signing the soon-to-be former Chelsea FC winger. Liverpool were also believed to be looking at Willian as a prospective transfer target in the past. However, with Takumi Minamino having joined the Reds earlier this year,  Willian moving to Anfield seems unlikely.
