William Gallas has urged Chelsea to move in for free agent Cristiano Ronaldo who was wanted by the Blues co-owner Todd Boehly in the summer.
Boehly, taking over the ownership reigns at the Bridge earlier this year, was keen on landing Ronaldo’s signature when the Portuguese superstar was looking to leave Manchester United ahead of the start of the 2022-23 campaign.
The then-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, however, appeared less than enthusiastic about bringing in Ronaldo and an approach for the forward was eventually shelved only for Tuchel to be sacked months later after Chelsea’s horrid start to the season.
With a new manager in the dugout in shape of Graham Potter and Ronaldo terminating his contract with Manchester United last month to enter free agency, the 37-year-old has once again been linked with a move to west London.
Former Chelsea defender William Gallas, as quoted by The Daily Express, reckons that the Blues should table a six-month contract for Ronaldo who can benefit Graham Potter’s side as they look for a new No.9.
“What I know is Todd Boehly wanted Cristiano Ronaldo in his squad when Thomas Tuchel did not.
“Maybe it’s a good opportunity for six months to bring Ronaldo to Chelsea.
“It would be good for Ronaldo to go to Chelsea so he can still play in the Champions League and it can benefit Chelsea too because they need a striker.”
