Chelsea’s sparkle was matched with West Ham’s dazzling effort. The match that began on high-tempo was ceasing through the time with more clearances than efforts. You may create ample of chances but they end up of no use if they are not converted into the net. The same happened with the Blues where they had a lot of go on the goal but only to see the ball trickling past the opposition keeper.
Against a team like Chelsea, one has to be disciplined if you want them to restrict scoring and so were West Ham. Chelsea always had the opportunity to cross the ball from either flanks but could not hold on to the crosses. West Ham were a little bit sloppy in the first 10 minutes but were lucky to hold on. Chelsea were looking to capitalise on the defensive errors but were no were near.
Chelsea got their first look on the goal after a cross from Willian to Giroud which was stopped by Hammers’ defence. But it was the Frenchman trying to impress with his heading skill that remained a mystery for a lot. Yes, Kante it is again into the limelight with his numerous chances in the match. Chelsea got the best chance to score after Alvaro Morato came in as a substitute in place of Giroud and within a blink of an eye almost scored a goal. With a deft pass from Hazard into the box the Spaniard only had to beat the keeper but his cheeky flick over the keeper went in vain when the ball struck the face of Fabianski.
Ardriy Yarmolenko was a threat all way through the game. Creating passes for Antonio was just not enough for him when he got himself into the box only to miss the easiest chance of the game. Only if he scored the Hammers would have caused the upset of season. Hammers were resilient throughout and did get their reward which could have been better if that clear header from Yarmolenko was guided into the net.
Nevertheless, a good game of football with many ups and downs, weaker team out powering the stronger and defenders getting the better of strikers.
