Wesley Fofana has asked Leicester City to accept the latest improved bid from Chelsea with the centre-back frustrated over Leicester’s asking price to sanction his sale this summer.
Fofana is understood to be Thomas Tuchel’s top target to bolster his defensive ranks with the Chelsea boss on the lookout for a new central defender after snapping up Kalidou Koulibaly earlier in the transfer window.
Leicester, however, have shown reluctance on parting ways with Fofana with two bids worth up to £70 million reportedly turned down by Brendan Rodgers’ side as Chelsea step up their efforts to sign the Frenchman.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Fofana has made it clear to the Foxes that he wants the move to Stamford Bridge before September 1’s deadline and become Chelsea’s latest recruit of a busy summer window under the new owners.
Chelsea also have their sights on completing a deal to bring in Everton’s 21-year-old attacking talent Anthony Gordon despite seeing their £43 million bid rejected on Sunday by the Toffees camp.
