Wantaway wing-back Ben Chilwell is reportedly set to sign a new contract at Chelsea with fresh terms being put in place to ensure his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2027.
The England international was subject to serious interest from the Premier League holders Manchester City who were keen to snap up the former Leicester City defender ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
According to a recent report from The Athletic, it is claimed that Chilwell is in line to put pen to paper on a new deal with Chelsea following his impressive displays in the left-back spot this season despite Chelsea’s struggles on the pitch.
The 26-year-old has come through form and fitness troubles to establish himself as the first-choice option for Chelsea who had spent big on bringing in Marc Cucurella last summer from Brighton to provide competition for places on the team sheet.
An extension at the Bridge for Chilwell would come as a setback to Man City who were said to be considering making an approach for the Chelsea wing-back after losing two players in Oleksandr Zinchenko and Joao Cancelo.
