According to the Daily Mirror, UK giants Chelsea have ended their pursuit of signing Brentford attacker Ivan Toney this summer.
The Blues have been unable to maintain their authority in front of goal with Nicolas Jackson being inconsistent since signing from Villarreal.

Mauricio Pochettino’s are short in options when it comes to choices to lead their attacking unit. They are playing Christopher Nkunku as an attacking midfielder when fit.
However, his injury has worsened and he has been sidelined for months now. With a lack of options, they seem to be hunting for a new striker this summer.
Over the past few months, they have been heavily linked with a move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney. But as per the Daily Mirror, they are now prioritising other options ahead of the experienced English ace.

The 28-year-old Ivan Toney is available for £50 million with Manchester United and Arsenal also strongly linked with the player. Ivan Toney has been in fine form for the Bees this season with 21 goals to his name.
He has the experience and quality to lead the line for a top English club but it seems that the West London club are not convinced by this transfer move.
They have been recently linked with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. There is a realistic chance that the former might leave the Portuguese side if their manager Ruben Amorim leaves this summer.
Meanwhile, Osimhen will be a costly acquisition for Chelsea as it is expected that the Italian outfit will ask for more than £100m for their prized asset.

We believe that Toney will be a quality player for the Blues and it remains to be seen whether they will come back to target the Brentford ace.
Man United will be the direct front-runners if Pochettino’s side decides to eye other options. It would be hard to digest if he does well for their fierce rivals.
The club and their manager have remained tight-lipped when asked about their preferred targets this summer and they might continue to do so unless they place a concrete offer on the table.
