Tottenham plotting move for Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku if Harry Kane departs

Tottenham might consider an unexpected move for Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku to fill the void left by Harry Kane, as per a recent report from Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello.

With Kane’s potential move to Bayern Munich generating significant interest and Lukaku’s fate uncertain following a loan spell from Chelsea to Inter Milan, this speculative proposal brings together these ongoing transfer sagas.

As Tottenham prepares to receive approximately £100 million from the potential sale of their English captain, they could find themselves with the financial means to pursue a new striker in the transfer market.

This situation might also present Lukaku with a chance that he may not currently have at Stamford Bridge.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that if Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich materialises, the Spurs could explore the option of signing Lukaku as a replacement.

This could be possible because of the Belgian striker’s lack of chances at his current club. He looks out of the new manager’s plans and the strong striker will need to find a way out of the club.

It’s believed that Lukaku’s preference leans towards a return to Serie A rather than staying in the Premier League.

The Chelsea striker’s potential permanent move to Inter remains uncertain, with club icon Javier Zanetti accusing him of disloyalty due to apparent interest from rival Juventus.

Interestingly, the idea of Lukaku joining Juventus didn’t sit well with their fans, who protested during a training match, favouring Dusan Vlahovic instead.

According to Gazzetta, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou currently holds doubts about Lukaku’s technical prowess, possibly rejecting a deal.

Tottenham kicks off their Premier League campaign against Brentford, while Chelsea faces Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, both matches slated for Sunday.
