Chelsea FC have confirmed that youngster Tino Anjorin has signed a new five-year contract with the Blues which will see the highly-rated teenager extend his stay at the Premier League side until 2025.
The midfielder is a graduate of the Blues youth academy and has been associated with the London-based Premier League club since the age of six. Anjorin has appeared in two competitive matches for Frank Lampard’s side this season and will be hoping for much more time on the pitch in the coming seasons.
His contract extension with the club comes after the Blues have committed to tying down the futures of highly-rated prospects for the near future in order to bolster the side’s squad depth.
Upon signing his new contract, Anjorin stated that it was a wonderful moment for him to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge. The 18-year old expressed his delight at being offered a new long term contract by Frank Lampard and the chance to continue playing in the Chelsea FC shirt, a moment which he dreamt of as a child.
The player appeared in the Blues 7-1 humbling of Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup as well as the 4-0 victory against Everton FC in the Premier League. The Everton FC fixture was incidentally the last match played by the Blues before the suspension of global football owing to the pandemic crisis.
Anjorin revealed that it was a no-brainer for him to sign the contract extension with Chelsea FC. The player has come through the youth ranks at the Blues and made a name for himself due to his physical style of play. Anjorin has been compared to English international and Blues midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on many occasions by football pundits and the Chelsea FC youth coaches.
The 2019-20 season has seen Lampard give a host of changes to the Blues youngers to impress with their performances and grab their places in the lineup. The transfer ban imposed on Chelsea FC last season had prevented Lampard from making any new signings.
Such an event led to the new Chelsea FC coach to instil his faith in the Blues academy graduates such as Reece James and Billy Gilmour who have put in a fantastic shift against big teams in the Premier League.
