A return to Serie A giants and long-term suitors AC Milan is understood to be the reason behind Tiemoue Bakayoko turning down a new contract extension from Chelsea.
Reports from The Daily Mail claim that the France international has rejected a new deal at Stamford Bridge which would have committed his future to the Blues beyond this summer’s transfer window.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has been out of favour at the Bridge for the past couple of seasons and upon his return to the club this pre-season after a loan spell at AS Monaco, there is talk of Chelsea being on the lookout for clubs interested in him.
Bakayoko’s current contract at Chelsea runs for another summer and interest from Italy has been rampant in signing Bakayoko this summer with AC Milan and Inter Milan both believed to be in the mix for the Frenchman.
It is suggested that Bakayoko’s rebuffing the new offer from Thomas Tuchel’s side is owing to the former Monaco man demanding a return to AC Milan who are planning a raid on Chelsea this summer with Giroud and Ziyech also in their sights.
