Bayern Munich have emerged as a shock candidate for the signing of Chelsea FC outcast Tiemoue Bakayoko. The French midfielder looks certain to be on his way out of the west London side and has been linked with a move to AC Milan. However, Bayern’s interest in signing Bakayoko comes amid speculation that the Bundesliga champions are in need of an overhaul in their midfield department.
The 25-year old Frenchman seemingly does not have a future for the Blues. Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard would be eager on selling the player and raising some more funds for future arrivals at Stamford Bridge. Moreover, Lampard has significant midfield options at his disposal at Chelsea FC.

N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mason Mount, Billy Gilmour, and Mateo Kovacic are all proven first-team midfielders who have been brilliant this season for the Blues. With Ruben Loftus-Cheek also returning from nearly 13 months on the sidelines, the presence of midfield options in the Blues squad will be the least of Lampard’s concerns.
Bakayoko has been unable to cement his place in the Chelsea FC first-team squad ever since joining the Blues in 2017 from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. With his performances in the French league making him one of the most talented midfielders in the division, the 25-year old’s arrival at Stamford Bridge was subject to great excitement from the Blues’ supporters.
However, the Frenchman was unable to meet the expectations from both the Chelsea FC top brass management as well as the club’s fanbase. The midfielder was subsequently offloaded on two consecutive season-long loan spells at Milan and AS Monaco. While playing for the latter, the 25-year old has been able to regain his form and performed well for his former side.
Bayern are in need of a midfield addition to their squad with Philippe Coutinho soon returning to FC Barcelona following the end of his loan spell. Moreover, French international Corentin Tolisso’s playing time on the pitch has been severely curtailed due to a series of injuries.
However, with star midfielder Thiago Alcântara desperate to seal a move to Liverpool FC, it seems as if the Bundesliga giants would be opening talks with Chelsea FC shortly over the possibility of signing Bakayoko.
