Thomas Tuchel was not involved in the signing of Denis Zakaria with new information coming to light related to the role of the ex-Chelsea head coach in the recruitment policy at Stamford Bridge.
The German was handed the sack last by the Chelsea board last week hours after the Blues suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in their Champions League group stage opener.
According to a report from The Athletic, Tuchel had several run-ins with the new Chelsea owners, led by Todd Boehly, on the transfer policy of the club for the summer which saw the Stamford Bridge giants spend £255.3 million on new signings.
Tuchel, moreover, did not have any part to play in the signing of Swiss international Denis Zakaria who made the move to west London from Juventus on deadline day in an initial loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent.
Midifeld reinforcements had been of much importance to the now former Blues boss but the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Romeo Lavia had been top names on Tuchel’s shopping list rather than Zakaria.
