Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel sounded out an update on forward duo Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner injuries ahead of the Norwich City showdown on Saturday.
The Blues are in line to take the field with Lukaku and Werner on the sidelines after the striker pairing sustained injuries last time around in the win over Malmo.
Lukaku suffered an ankle injury and limped off the pitch as Kai Havertz came on to replace him early on in the midweek game at the Bridge while Werner pulled up a hamstring and had to be brought off too.
The double setback on the injury front is sure to worry Thomas Tuchel who is certain to miss his players for the forthcoming fixtures awaiting Chelsea across the Premier League and the Champions League.
Speaking to the reporters in his pre-match press conference in the build-up to the weekend league game against Norwich, Tuchel confirmed that Lukaku and Werner were sidelined for the fixture along with a long-term absentee in American international Christian Pulisic.
‘There is no big news for Romelu and Timo.’
‘They are out for tomorrow and they are out for the Southampton game, and from there we see what’s next.
‘I don’t think it makes sense to go into speculation about how long this is going to be. If we had done this with Christian Pulisic, maybe you would think I’m a liar and I’m hiding something. You never know. Things can be shorter or longer than expected.
‘The one thing I can tell you for sure is they are both in treatment. Both are feeling positive, not too worried, and are out for the next two games for sure.’
