Thomas Tuchel has sounded out hope on the Andreas Christensen contract front which will come as music to the ears of the Chelsea fanbase.
Christensen’s extended standoff with the Blues camp over renewing his terms beyond the next summer had put Tuchel into a fix with the boss in no mood to lose out on his star central defender on free.
The Denmark international is seen as pivotal to Chelsea’s plans for the near future and talks had been in full swing with Christensen’s representatives to extend his stay in the English capital.
Tuchel has had another player to tie down to a new deal in Christensen’s centre-back partner Antonio Rudiger who is understood to be close to the exit door at Stamford Bridge heading into the January transfer window.
Speaking to the reporters in his pre-match presser ahead of the Leicester City clash, Tuchel said he was hopeful of a breakthrough in the coming days with regard to the talks with Christensen over extending his contract with the west London giants.
“Things are very mature and respectful and clear. Of course there are some delays with Toni and Andreas at the moment.
“For Andreas, from my point of view, everybody wants the same thing. The coach wants the same thing, the club wants the same thing and the player wants the same thing.
“Hopefully and obviously I expect some good news in the next days but every case is different.
“You can end up in situations like this but the situations are handled from all sides very carefully, very professionally, very calm and mature.
