Thomas Tuchel has passed a big verdict on Chelsea’s chances for the Premier League crown amid his side’s recent run of form that has been nothing short of impressive.
Chelsea have won 12 of their last 13 games in all competitions with the result 2-0 win away at Championship outfit Boro assuring them of a semi-final berth in the FA Cup where they take on Crystal Palace.
In a press conference ( via a report from Goal), Tuchel admitted that his side’s upbeat showings of late paled in comparison to that of Manchester City who, according to the Chelsea manager, have been at their brilliant best for three years now.
“The problem is [Manchester City] are also on a run for a long time. They are like three years on a run, I have the feeling and it seems like their three years on a run to our 13 games is not enough.
“We have to be honest. We will never admit anything before things are decided. We will always push ourselves and push ourselves to the limit.
“We cannot do anything else, but we should not get carried away that two teams took advantage of our problems, so full credit to them, they deserve to be where they are and we need to make sure to catch as many points as possible.”
The Blues, despite the ownership saga that continues to attract much talk from all corners, have put out some solid displays to remain in the running for silverware in domestic as well as continental football.
Tuchel’s men would go up against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League which promises to be a stern challenge for Chelsea in their bid to defend their European crown.
