Thomas Tuchel disregards Romelu Lukaku’s brace against Wolves

Despite Romelu Lukaku scoring twice against Wolves to put Chelsea in command of Saturday’s Premier League battle, Thomas Tuchel has given him the cold shoulder.

Late in the game, the Blues surrendered twice to throw away the lead Lukaku had given them.

Tuchel’s side has now gone three games without a win in the Premier League, following a draw at Manchester United and a loss to Everton.

Ironically, it was one of Lukaku’s greatest performances since his club-record move from Inter Milan to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku’s comeback has been a disaster so far, with the Belgian scoring just five Premier League goals before Saturday.

But he dominated at Stamford Bridge, putting Tuchel’s side on course to win all three points. After being knocked down by Romain Saiss himself, he went up to convert a penalty.

He doubled his score for the afternoon three minutes later with a first-time finish from Christian Pulisic’s pass.

Chelsea, on the other hand, crumbled in the final 11 minutes, squandering the lead Lukaku thought he had given them.

The equalizer at the death left the Blues stressed out as their rivals Tottenham inched closer to them with a point gap between the two sides.

Tuchel hesitated to comment on Lukaku’s performance after the stalemate with Wolves, despite the Belgian striker’s fantastic display.

Tuchel was irritated by his team’s willingness to take risks while holding a two-goal lead, stating that it was those dangers that prompted Wolves to return to the game.

Chelsea will have a hectic run of games next week as they travel to Leeds in the Prem and their big test against Liverpool in the FA Cup final next Sunday.
