Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has deemed his star midfield player N’Golo Kante fit for the upcoming game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Kante has been missing in action for the Blues since sustaining an ankle injury in the UEFA Super Cup final following which the France international has served on the sidelines.
Mateo Kovacic has been drafted in the midfield role by Chelsea in Kante’s extended absence due to the injury with the former putting in a great shift last time around in league action in the win over Aston Villa.
With Thomas Tuchel having an extra option in the centre of the park after landing Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid on deadline day, Kante’s absence owing to injury has not come as a major setback for Chelsea and Tuchel on the squad selection front.
However, the 30-year-old midfielder remains as critical as ever to Chelsea’s performances on the pitch and his return, hinted by Tuchel in his pre-match press conference, will be some much-needed respite for the club’s fanbase.
“N’Golo [Kante] is back. Back in full shape and ready to play.”
