Thomas Tuchel has confirmed a major double injury blow for Chelsea ahead of Saturday’s Aston Villa clash at Stamford Bridge with N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic sidelined for the fixture.
Chelsea play hosts to Dean Smith’s Midlanders over the weekend with Thomas Tuchel counting on his players to maintain their strong start to the new season of England’s top-flight football.
While there had been some concerns over the fitness levels of Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian’s thigh niggle during the international break, Tuchel dismissed the talk saying the player had looked fine in training.
“No, not at all. Maybe he had some problems but he came back two days ago, yesterday he trained with us, today he trained fully, no problems at all.”
Kante and Pulisic, however, were confirmed absentees for the upcoming matchup by Tuchel in his pre-match presser with both players not in line to prove their fitness from existing injury niggles.
Pulisic had an ankle injury troubling him while Kante had sustained an issue on his ankle as well while turning out against Liverpool in the outing just prior to the international break.
“Unfortunately we have two players out in N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic.
“They came back both injured. N’Golo got injured in the Liverpool game and still suffers a little bit.
We’re trying with N’Golo for Tuesday. For Christian he returned yesterday on crutches. An ankle injury with about 10 days.”
