Thomas Tuchel confirms double injury blow for Chelsea ahead of Manchester City clash

Thomas Tuchel confirmed a double injury blow for Chelsea ahead of the Manchester City clash with Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic being ruled out of the high-billed fixture set to be played out at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are gearing up to welcome the defending champions of England on Saturday with Tuchel’s men hoping to clock another win on the run to stay put at top of the league standings.

Pulisic still unavailable, Mount joins the recovery table list

In his pre-match presser ahead of Saturday’s game, Tuchel revealed that Pulisic is still working his way to full fitness and would not be in the fray for team selection over the weekend.

Mason Mount, the star playmaker for Chelsea, has picked up a knock during the midweek game against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup and the injury is in line to keep him out of the upcoming match, according to Tuchel.

‘Christian Pulisic is still out.’

‘Mason Mount is also out as this game comes too soon for him, after picking up a minor injury from the Aston Villa match in midweek.

‘He has made a big step in his recovery from that, huge progress, but unfortunately not enough to be involved because of the game coming earlier as a 12.30pm [kick-off] on Saturday.

Tuchel deems Edouard Mendy fit to start the weekend fixture

A major boost for Chelsea on the injury front is the return of their first-choice goalkeeper in Edouard Mendy who is in line to man the goalposts once again after a recent injury niggle, confirmed the Chelsea boss.

‘Everyone else is fine and Edouard Mendy is fit from his injury. He is available and will start for us tomorrow.’

The Spain international Kepa had deputised for Mendy of late and was key to Chelsea’s win over Aston Villa following a tense penalty shootout earlier this week.
