Thibaut Courtois has signed a six year contract with Real Madrid and has given an end to one of the most talked about transfer sagas of this summer’s window. Thibaut Courtois will be wearing Real Madrid shirt this season after being transferred from Chelsea for a reported £35 million. Florentino Perez finally got his wish covered and was able to sign the 26-year old Belgian goalkeeper and the winner of best goalkeeper in this edition of World Cup. The deal was sealed with the Croatian midfielder Kovacic joining Chelsea for a season long loan.
Both the parties were always interested in each other, with the European Champions wanting to have a stronger competitor for Keylor Navas whose form has been fluctuating. And with his family in the Capital city of Spain, Thibaut Courtois would be more than a happy dad. He acknowledged the same in the past saying, ”My children are very important to me, I’ve always said that, and they live in Madrid.”
After his medical, the player will be presented in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu at 1pm.
It’s yet a doubt that the arrival of Belgian keeper will be a goodbye to Keylor Navas whose form has not been consistent or will Madrid keep both players and watch who can perform well this season.
Chelsea are expected to sign the 23-year old Kepa of Athletic Bilbao as his replacement. But the question is, ‘Is he better than Courtois that Chelsea have agreed to a £71 million buyout clause?’ “Whatever or wherever the Belgian keeper may go, his blood should always run Blue,’ is what all the Chelsea fans would want.
