Thiago Silva has put pen to paper on a much-awaited new deal with Chelsea which is poised to run until the summer of 2023, confirmed a statement from the club’s official website.
The veteran Brazil international’s deal at Stamford Bridge had been due to expire at the end of the season and Thomas Tuchel had been hard at work to tie the player down to extended terms.

Silva has been a consistent performer at the back for the west Londoners under Tuchel’s charge and his staying put in the English capital will come as a major boost on the contract front for the under-fire Chelsea boss.
Tuchel could be in line to lose both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen come the summer later this year with both central defenders nearing their exits from the Bridge with either player reluctant to sign a long-term extension.
Rudiger is understood to be one foot out the door at Chelsea with the Germany international rumoured to be a top target for Spanish giants Real Madrid who are in pole position to land his signature.
