The most decorated member of Chelsea FC is the Brazilian defender, Thiago Silva. His joining the Samford Bridge is not only to add more trophies to his collection but to continue making an influence on the other younger players around him in the team.
The experienced centre-back was the seniormost player to join the club in this summer transfer window on a free transfer as he left his old club Paris Saint Germain. He was PSG’s captain when he left and in his long tenure of eight years with the French club, he has won innumerable trophies. He has won lots of domestic trophies with his club and as well as with Fluminense and AC Milan.
Silva lifted the Copa America in 2019 and Confederations Cup in 2013 in the international stage with Brazil. He is now 36 years of age and still the captain of Brazil. He not only wants to add one more domestic title to his collection but also wants the European glory which he came near to in his previous year with PSG.
‘I try to leave a mark wherever I go. I left my mark at RS at the start of my career, then at Juventude, then after at Fluminense, then Milan and Paris, and I aim to leave my mark here as well,’ he said as per the Chelsea Official website.
‘This is my focus and plan, and I’m so scared of letting down people who showed so much belief in me. I aim to work hard and focus a lot on my opponents so that I can make as few mistakes as possible in games to help me and the team performed really well.
‘The choice to join Chelsea wasn’t hard,’ adds Thiago Silva. You’re talking about a club with Chelsea’s history, their great and respected shirt, our coaching staff, first and foremost the gaffer who was really successful here playing for Chelsea, and the squad which really caught my eye in terms of the quality of the team.’
He also added that it wasn’t hard to decide which club he would join as Chelsea was by far the best option for him. The Blues’ squad caught his eyes and with no second thought, he came to England for a new challenge.
