Swansea City hopeful of signing Chelsea youngster on extended loan terms

Championship outfit Swansea City have indicated their desire to extend a loan deal for Chelsea FC starlet Marc Guehi.

According to reports, the 20-year old defender is likely to be shipped off for another loan spell at the Liberty Stadium with Frank Lampard keen on developing Guehi’s potential further through greater first-team involvement for the Swans.

An England U21 international, Guehi joined Steve Cooper’s side in January earlier this year on an 18-month loan agreement. However, registration issues meant that the youngster could only stay at the club till the end of the 2019-20 season.

Despite his short-stint at Swansea City, the Chelsea FC loanee emerged as a regular first-team fixture in Cooper’s playing XI. Guehi’s displays at left-back for the Swans were hailed by many, including his Blues manager Frank Lampard.

The player made just two appearances for the Chelsea FC senior squad last season, both of them coming in the Carabao Cup. Lampard is unlikely to retain the defender at Stamford Bridge this season, reports suggest.

Swansea City are confident of reaching a positive conclusion over negotiations with the Blues for Guehi’s loan. The 20-year old would be hoping to enjoy yet another productive spell with the Swans and to make a foray into Lampard’s plans in the coming seasons at Chelsea FC.
