According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are determined to secure the signing of Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo.
Despite their financial difficulties, the Blaugrana’s strong faith in the youngster’s abilities and are prepared to work hard to sign the 18-year-old midfielder.
The La Liga side is convinced that the defensive midfielder is a better fit for their style of play compared to Chelsea. They view this as a critical moment to secure his signature before the Blues do.
Barcelona’s new sporting director Deco, is already making plans for the upcoming season, with a focus on bolstering the holding midfield position.
Currently, they have only Oriol Romeu as a traditional defensive midfielder, and while Frenkie de Jong can play that role, they know it’s not his ideal position. Hence, they are considering a move for Moscardo.
Meanwhile, Chelsea, known for their pursuit of top young talents, has been in discussions with Corinthians about signing their starlet and hopes to beat Barcelona to his signing.
In addition to the competition for Moscardo, they are also facing competition from Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to sign 15-year-old American player Julian Hall.
Just last week, Hall made history as the second-youngest player ever to debut in Major League Soccer while playing for the New York Red Bulls.
Despite signing a contract extension until 2026 just last month, Hall has attracted the attention of top clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
